By 1909, the aviation industry was technically about five years old, but already booming. It was monopolized by the Wright brothers but one man, Glenn Curtiss, began to change that. Curtiss was the most famous motorcycle racer and engineer on the planet and when he turned his attention to planes in 1907, the world changed. The offered 1909 dated image of the famed "June Bug" plane that Curtiss created is a work of aviation art and a piece of history as one of the first to illustrate aspects of a plane itself and not as a prop behind a famous pilot. The image presents well and is likely the only survivor in the world. There is a some handwritten notes on the back as well as a stamp from the photographer Arthur Eldredge of New York. An important new discovery!
