1920 Large portrait photograph of infielder Tony Boeckel of the Boston Braves and posing in a uniform style that the team only wore for one season. Boeckel is a tragic figure in the history of the sport as he was killed in an automobile accident before the start of the 1924 season. One of the best young players in the game and a good friend to many players around the league, the team wore black armbands for Boeckel during the season and even dedicated a plaque to him at the old Braves field! Issued by Charles Conlon and with his handwritten notes and signature on the back, this is one of his greatest images ever taken! The photo has some light wear at the corners and a few tiny rips at the far right from news-room use.
