Large 1920 photograph of Babe Ruth from his first year as a member of the New York Yankees as he strode to the plate to take his turn at bat. One of his most famous images ever taken, this is the work of photographer Paul Thompson and it presents beautifully. Developed in a dark room off the original glass plate negative, this image has exceptional contrast and clarity with even the slightest wood grain and name on his bat being visible. This is a restrike from a newspaper archive and dates to the 1950's or perhaps the early 1960's in out opinion based on the gelatin paper it was developed on. There is some slight handling wear to the corners and a slight trim on the lower right corner. This is the only example of this photograph we have ever seen and it is being presented here for the first time ever!
