1927 Famous portrait photo of Captain Charles Lindbergh, daring airmail pilot who was about to attempt to be the first man to cross the Atlantic. While we know today that the flight was successful, many at the time thought this would be the last time Lindbergh would be seen alive. The thought had to be crossing the minds of the photographer from Underwood and Underwood who snapped this image on the eve of history! Photo has some really light handling wear from editorial use but the quality of the image is great. Stamped on the back by Underwood and with a lengthy paper caption, this image is a true piece of American history and one of only a handful of Lindy taken before he left to conquer the Atlantic that we have ever seen! There is an embossed file stamp on the lower part of the image as it was the actual "File Copy" at the Underwood archives, but this just adds to the history of the piece!
