Lot Description  

Willie Mays was officially traded from the San Francisco Giants to the New York Mets on April 11, 1972. He would not play for the team for a few days, making this photograph (Dated the day of the trade) his first we have seen from the day the trade happened. Mays is seen leaving Shea Stadium and waving to photographer Bill Meurer of the New York Daily News. An important new discovery that is being offered here for the first time ever.
