On June 13, 1948, Babe Ruth put on a Yankee uniform for the last time and addressed a packed house of his fans at Yankee Stadium in New York. He was frail and could barely speak, but the impact of the moment has endured for over seventy years. While the image by Nat Fein gets all the love, it is photographs like this that capture the event at different angles and moments that are the most rare. The offered photograph from William C. Greene is the only example that shows Ruth holding the bat he was leaning on in the famous Fein photo and preparing to address the crowd from the front that we have ever seen. An incredible work of art that we have never seen before and grading almost perfect!
