Taken during the waning moments of the 1938 season, Lou Gehrig was captured here by an unknown photographer from Acme as the pillar of strength from the New York Yankees. What Gehrig and the World did not know is that the horrible disease that would take his life a few years later was already ravaging his body. This profile photo is one of the best we have ever seen of Gehrig from any year in any form, made special by the events of his next full season around the corner. Condition Is overall nice with a crease on the top border. For the collector or investor who wants one of the best Gehrig images out there! Photo is slabbed by PSA and comes with a full letter as well (Type 1).
