1926 Oversized photograph of Babe Ruth in uniform and being worked on by Yankee trainer Doc Woods before the start of his next game. Wearing his uniform pants but shirtless, Ruth was having his famous left arm massaged during the dog-days of summer to prevent the Yankee prize from suffering an injury. Images of Ruth in uniform in an oversized format are rare, but this is the work of famous photographer Louis Van Oeyen and bears his stamp on the back. The image is clear and one of the only we have ever seen of Ruth in such an intimate setting with the trainer in the locker room that we have ever seen. There is wear and some edge/corner damage from news-room use, as well as some editorial artwork added at the bottom for publication, but the photo is powerful and important. One of the only images of Ruth bearing the stamp of Van Oeyen we have ever seen!
