1945 Aerial and artistic photograph of the island of Nagasaki after an atomic bomb was dropped on it by the United States Military. The massive mushroom cloud from the blast is all that pierces the clouds as it rises to the sky like a signal that Nagasaki was dead. A powerful and thought provoking image of one of the darkest days in military history, this was issued by Underwood and Underwood and stamped on the back. There is a small border chip on the right but otherwise the photo presents well.
