1928 Rare photograph of first year manager Burt Shotton of the Phillies as he looks over his team during spring training. An important image as this was the first year Shotton got some experience as a manager, experience he would use nearly twenty years later when he was tasked with managing the Dodgers during the famous 1947 season that saw Jackie Robinson integrate the game! Photo has some artistic tracing over the image of Shotton on the front so it could be engraved in a newspaper (the pencil on back is part of this process) but otherwise it presents really well.
