Beautiful 1925 photograph of Baseball Umpire Clarence "Brick" Owens by photographer Charles Conlon. Owens could easily be in the Hall of Fame as he is one of the longest serving Umpires not to be enshrined. Tough as nails, he was repeatedly beat up when a minor league umpire, but he never backed down. He is also famous as a footnote for tossing Babe Ruth out of a game after walking the first batter (the Babe lost it) and Ernie Shore, Ruth's replacement then threw a perfect game! Condition is absolutely stunning and this has the handwritten notes and signature of Conlon on the back.
