1929 Rare photograph of Babe Ruth, caught in the middle of an emotional breakdown in Boston at the funeral of his first wife. While they were divorced, Ruth always loved Helen and blamed himself for treating her badly during his earlier, more wild days. We have seen a few images of Ruth in town for the funeral, but this is the only one showing the baseball great at the actual service and standing by her grave. Issued by Underwood and Underwood and from their archive, the photo is clear and presents well with some corner chipping and a small rip on the bottom border. An important piece of history from the greatest baseball player of all time.
