1922 Batting photograph of Babe Ruth as he showed that he could also bat like Ty Cobb with a split-grip. A fantastic image with crystal clarity, this is the only photograph of Ruth showing a split grip that we have seen and it possibly was in response (gest) to the several attacks that Cobb often leveled at Ruth for not being a smart ballplayer and just swinging for the fences. Issued by Wide World Photos and stamped on the back, the photo is not dated but we feel c. 1922 is a good estimate as Ruth is young and full of life, looking trim and ready to smash the ball into the seats. Photo is nice shape overall with a small crease on the left side and a solitary pinholes from editorial use.
