1915 Photograph of four members of the Boston Red Sox as they visited the photo company of Underwood and Underwood and looked at pictures of themselves in their New York office. Included in the image is a fresh faced rookie named Babe Ruth as the prominent figure in the frame, captured wearing his Sunday best and piercing directly into the lens of the photographer. It is incredible to think that Ruth is looking at a stack of his own rookie photographs from the files of the most important photo archive on the planet, each of which would be worth a fortune today. It is THIS photograph however, that has gone down as an absolute gem, presenting as one of the finest portraits of Ruth when taken in isolation from his rookie season. Slabbed by PSA as an important Type 1 example, this is a double weight photograph in great shape that we believe to be the only surviving example in the hobby. One of the most historically significant images we have ever offered and it comes from the very archive Ruth is sitting in here, Underwood and Underwood!
