It is incredible to think that in 1908, it was still a novelty for the President of the United States to use a automobile to get around the Capital! This beautiful image shows the new President, William Howard Taft, as he cruises around the Washington DC area in the back of an early car! Issued by the famous Clinedinst photography studio, this has an early paper caption on the back and a slightly later file stamp from 1912 (when the Central Press started to archive their images).
