Ten years before he put on the cape of Superman, George Reeves was a bit actor who first hit the screen as an extra in "Gone With the Wind." He then appeared in several Hopalong Cassidy films, and we see him here as a bit actor in the film "So Proudly We Hail." While the image is dated 1943, he was actually in the military fighting in WWII at the time, meaning this was taken in 1942 and released the next year. This is by far his earliest image and it presents beautifully, stamped on the back by famous photographer Whitey Schafer! Reeves would become just as famous for his mysterious Hollywood death at 45 years old as he would for the iconic role he played! Photo is in pretty nice shape with just minimal news-room handling wear evident. An investment grade image from an underrated Hollywood icon!
