Absolutely beautiful and extremely early action photograph from the famous Indianapolis 500 race in just it's second year in existence! Stamped on the back by the Central Press with the date, this is the earliest image from the event we have ever seen and this is being offered here for the first time ever, fresh out of a newspaper archive! The image shows the racers all set at the starting line with exhaust flowing behind, indicating that the cars had not yet started to move and were waiting for the signal to start. The photo is crystal clear and bold, with a couple pinholes and a crease (has split a touch at the extreme bottom) from editorial use. An important piece of racing history.
