26 Years before Jackie Robinson, some minorities were allowed to play Major League baseball under the constant strain of racism. One of those was Moses "Chief" Yellow Horse who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1921-22. He was a good pitcher going 8-4 in his Major League career, but he is a footnote today to the conditions in which many endured to play the game they loved. The offered action photo is among the best in the World with Yellow Horse facing directly at the camera, his dark skin unable hide from the photographer, and with a fantastic stadium backdrop. Issued by Underwood and Underwood and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well. Images of Yellow Horse are rare and this is one of his best, grading a perfect 10/10!
