The 1959 television program "Home Run Derby" was one of the greatest spectacles in baseball history and it spawned offshoots that remain to this day. We watched this program on rerun as children in the 1980's and marveled at the powerful swing of Mantle and Mays, especially when they went head to head on the very first episode of the program. The show is a cult classic and it remains one of the most iconic television sports television programs of all time.
