History has been kinder to Nikola Tesla than the people of his own generation were, but genius is rarely understood in it's own time. Because he was famous early in the 20th century, then was viewed as sort of a crack-pot when photography was more prominent, images of Tesla are extremely rare. This image, taken about 1929-1932, is a famous photo of the inventor holding his head in his hand, which was one of his signature poses. Condition is great and this is completely vintage. Images of Tesla are extremely rare with this one being one of the top we have ever seen. The portrait is intentionally muted so it is actually hard to tell whether this is off the negative or a copy negative. We are being conservative, but it is possible this will get a "Type 1" from PSA. An important piece of history.
