An incredible new discovery, recently uncovered in an old photo album, this image shows the absolute genesis of the famed Wrigley Field in Chicago as it welcomed the Chicago Whales Federal League club for the first time ever. Opening Day 1914, the Whales took on Kansas City and won 9-1. Before the game there were festivities including drills and bands which is the context of this image. The crowd is relatively sparce and there are non-players on the field in formation. The structure is clearly Wrigley Field (called Weegham Park at the time) and it has a note "Fed Park 1914" underneath the unique snapshot photograph. Another pencil note of "first game" has been added to the corner. More research is needed as to the exact game, but it is clearly from 1914 and captures Wrigley Field from it's first season in baseball. Mounted to cabinet board, the small piece has some remnants of family photographs on the back which could be removed. A unique new discovery that is being offered here for the first time ever!
