Lost in the sage of the major leagues and their various battles with upstarts is the 1946 tale of the Mexican League. Led by wealthy backers, the league tried to lure prominent major leaguers to jump ship and go south for huge salaries. While most did not agree, Freddie Martin and a few others took the bait. In retrospect, it was probably a bad call as the league eventually was not sustainable and Martin received a lifetime ban for his role in jumping. The offered image, however, is an incredible reminder of this era as martin warms up at the ballpark in his uniform, shortly before throwing a one-hitter! One of the few images of the major leaguers who took the money and jumped ship, this is an important piece of baseball history that is vastly underappreciated today! A unique new discovery that looks amazing, especially with the ballpark fence as the perfect backdrop!
