1919 Dated portrait photo of "Big Bill" James who was supposedly a clean member of the Chicago Black Sox. The photo was taken during that famous World Series and is one of the best of James that exists. James would later be implicated by Chick Gandil (one of the Black Sox) for throwing games for money, but with no evidence it simply disappeared as a story. Issued by Underwood and Underwood and stamped on the back with a paper caption that places this about three weeks before the Black Sox took the field against the Reds! The image presents well but it has a small rip on the lower right corner.
