On the short list of the most influential and important football stars of the 19th century is Pat O'Dea. He played for Wisconsin, was an All-American, and a member of the college football Hall of Fame. He is much more than that though as he was the first to use an Australian style punt form which is still used today, and was perhaps the greatest kicker of the era. After his playing career, he became one of the first big names to coach for the tiny school in South Bend called "Notre Dame." Anything related to O'Dea is rare and highly sought after with this being the only vintage cabinet photograph of his most famous kicking pose that we know of in the entire hobby! Taken by a Madison, Wisconsin studio while he was a superstar there, this has some editorial markings from publication but those can be removed. One of the most important football images we have ever handled and the first from O'Dea we have ever seen!
