The earliest known photograph of future President Abraham Lincoln is an ambrotype from about 1846, showing a beardless young lawyer over a decade before he became the leader of the free world. There is only one "original" of this image as ambrotypes are by their nature unique, but this example from around the 1890's is the earliest and finest specimen of this photograph we have ever seen. Mounted to cabinet board and clearly utilizing a 19th century photographic process, the photo is a rarity and is one of the finest images of Lincoln we have ever handled.
