Incredibly sad and thought provoking May 13, 1916 photograph of auto racer Carl Limberg posed behind the wheel of his Delage automobile at the Sheepshead Bay Speedway. Full of anticipation and life, he would die only minutes after this image was taken as his car hit a rail. The mechanic in the car also died as well. Issued by George Grantham Bain and stamped on the back, this is one of the only images of an auto racer taken at the event he died at that we have ever seen!
