Bob Gibson was the best pitcher of his era, but he was more than that, he was perhaps the best athlete of the 1960's. Before baseball, he was a star basketball player who spent time with the Harlem Globetrotters and he was also quite a hitter! This 1962 image shows a young Gibson from early in his career, greeted at home plate after belting a home run against the New York Mets. Identified on the back as the work of Frank Hurley, this is a unique new discovery that is being offered here for the first time ever.
