1947 Portrait photograph of young WWII veteran Yogi Berra in uniform with the New York Yankees and hoping to make the team out of spring training. He had come up on September 22, 1946 (the previous fall) but was hoping for a full time job for the first time. An early and exceptional portrait photograph that is among the finest ever taken of Berra in uniform, this has been mounted to thicker board by a newspaper archive for publication but it dates to much earlier than the 1963 file date and this appears to be an original from the late 1940's. Photo was creased before it was mounted but it otherwise presents beautifully.
