A little known fact about the 1919 White Sox scandal is that Joe Jackson sued the White Sox over back pay, and WON! The offered image by Underwood & Underwood shows Jackson in court in early 1924 suing the White Sox for $18,500 for back pay since he was banished without a conviction of guilt. Jackson would win the case but the Judge would overturn the conviction declaring that Jackson had perjured himself since he had earlier (under oath) admitted to the scandal. One of the more unusual Jackson images with direct ties to the 1919 World Series Scandal we have ever seen and the second one showing this court proceeding. Stamped on the back by Underwood & Underwood, this is a bold photograph in nice shape. A rare piece of Baseball History to say the least!
