When you think of Yankee Stadium, the date that immediately comes to mind is 1923. That is when the ballpark was completed, opened, and christened by Babe Ruth. It is weird to think that the planning and construction dated back over two years, but this extremely rare early photograph is proof of the years of work that went into the iconic structure. Issued by the Keystone View Company, the photo is a conceptual rendition of what the new stadium would look like, two years before it became a reality. This is the only image of it's type we have offered and it comes with a newspaper filing date of before the 1921 Yankees even reported to spring training! While many of the features pictured here would become iconic a few years later, others were indeed changed, like the fully enclosed outfield walls in center field. An incredible piece of baseball history, offered here for the first time ever fresh out of a newspaper archive!
