Just in case the Japanese had thoughts of repeating a Pearl Harbor like attack in the future, the generals in charge of the official surrender aboard the USS Missouri wanted to show some American muscle. While the Japanese were signing the surrender documents to end WWII, the military arranged a fly-over showing the power of the United States. Captured here from the deck of the USS Missouri during the official surrender, we see a large convoy of planes in formation symbolic of superiority and strength. An official US Navy photograph with the purple text on the back, this is a work of WWII art that we have never seen before.
