Large c. 1919 portrait photograph of Chicago Black Sox manager Kid Gleason in uniform with the team that would launch him into baseball history. Taken by photographer Charles Conlon and with his handwritten notes and a stamp on the back, this is perhaps his greatest photograph ever taken and certainly his largest we have seen! Photo has a couple chips from handling and several pinholes as it was repeatedly used in publication, most likely during coverage of the Black Sox scandal! This is almost certainly the image used to make his 1919 W514 baseball card as the figure is exact despite some editorial differences being a drawn baseball card. This is the only example of this image used to make the baseball card we have ever seen!
