1912 Silver gelatin photograph of the champion American Olympic athletes being honored at Hilltop park, the home of the New York Yankees on June 12, 1912. Champion thrower Ralph Rose is seen at the head of the group as the athletes are being addressed by Col. R. M. Thompson. Crystal clear and bold, the image may contain Jim Thorpe as well but at the very least it provides a fantastic view at Hilltop Park. It is likely this was developed in the late 1910's and might barely be outside the window of five years we give for a "vintage 1" but the image is clearly very old and from the archives of Underwood and Underwood. Offered here for the first time ever!
