Beautiful 1924 pitching action photograph of Walter Johnson from the Washington Senators and taken on the eve of his first and only championship of his career. One of his better images, completely posed by the photographer, this has a corny but amazing feel to it as photography had not yet evolved to the point where Johnson could let one fly and make a nice picture. The quality of the photograph is perfect, with the clarity being so nice you can see Johnson's fingernails and the threads of his socks. The photo is stamped on the back by Underwood and Underwood and it has a crease on the left border but it is otherwise quite nice.
