Three months before the wreck which would take the life of aviator Amelia Earhart, she nearly died in a crash in Hawaii. Taking off from the island, the plane crashed o the runway in March and only quick thinking from Earhart saves the entire crew. He she is seen wearing a traditional Lei after surviving the wreck on the island. At the time it seemed luck was on her side, but about three months later, she would die when her plane crashed in the Pacific Ocean. A rare image from Acme that seems to show, better than others we have seen, the strain of the trip on Earhart. This is the only example of this image we have ever handled and it presents really nicely.
