Every now and then you find a photo that makes your jaw drop. While Patrick Ewing was really good and he was the focal point of this 1981 photograph from the Olympic Festival basketball game in Syracuse New York, it is the man wearing number 8 in the background that is the gem in this unique, previously unknown photograph. Michael Jordan was coming off his senior year in high school, had already signed to play at North Carolina and Dean Smith, and was an emerging star but was not seen as anything but a "kid with talent" when he bombed this photograph. One of the only images of Jordan from the festival taken between his high school and college careers, this is an exciting piece of basketball history that is being offered for sale here for the first time ever, stamped on the back from a local Syracuse photographer Mike Greenlar. A cool side note is the early Converse sneakers Jordan was wearing, five years before he made Nike a cultural icon!
