One of the most underrated players in the history of professional football, Kenny Washington was to the NFL what Jackie Robinson was to Major League baseball. Interesting that they were teammates at UCLA in the late 1930's and this action photo captures them both! Before Washington, the NFL had an unofficial color barrier just like baseball. After Washington, the League became one of the most integrated in all of professional sports. Clear image has a tremendous action image of Washington from his days as a superstar at UCLA running the ball and it clearly shows Jackie Robinson (28) falling to the ground in the pile having just blocked for Washington. This is one of the only images known to exist capturing both important pioneers in the same frame. Issued by the International News and stamped on the back with a full paper caption, the photograph has some wear from creasing but the quality is strong.
