Large c. 1927 photograph of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig the iconic sluggers of the "Murderers Row" Yankees as they take a turn behind the camera lens for a change. Here Ruth directs bad boy Art Shires of the White Sox into position for the perfect shot! Ruth probably knew a thing or two about photography as he was often referred to as the most photographed man in the world during his prime years. This is a famous photograph that even appears on the PSA guide to photography as the cover image, but this is the only physical specimen we have ever handled. Issued by the Photocraft News Co. of New Haven Connecticut, this is a vintage original that dates to about the correct time period and has a nice paper caption (was stapled to the back but has come loose). The condition of this image is quite nice with the only fault being the staple hole at the bottom as issued. A rare opportunity to get one of the most famous images of Ruth and Gehrig ever taken!
