1951 Rare photograph of young rookie Mickey Mantle in the Yankee locker room where he is flanked by the two pitchers he helps gain victory over the Indians (Ed Lopat and Allie Reynolds) by belting a home run and a double. The homer was just the 8th of young Mantle's career and this is one of the earliest images we have ever seen documented to a Mantle homer from his rookie season. Stamped on the back by the International News and with the date as well (August 26, 1951) the newspaper clipping has some information on the game as well that pinpoints it to the exact hour the photograph was taken. Despite some wear from news-room use, the photograph retains great eye appeal and clarity. One of the most important 1951 Mantle images we have offered and the only one known of this particular photograph!
