1940 Large and beautiful photograph of Hank Greenberg from the height of his career and taken in uniform at the ballpark. At the time this image was taken, he was the best hitter in baseball but WWII was looming and his career would take a dramatic turn. As the figure head of the Jewish community, his role in the War can not be overstated and all things considered (talent and social implications) he is one of the most important athletes of his era. A really beautiful image in great shape, issued by a local photographer from the Detroit News (likely unique) as from his last full season before the War!
