1952 Original batting photograph of young rookie Mickey Mantle from the New York Yankees posing with his bat. Taken by photographer Don Wingfield, this is one of the few original 1950's examples of this image we have ever seen in any form. Clearly off the original negative, the only question would be pinpointing a date of production. We feel this is absolutely a 1950's example and Wingfield often worked in this size throughout the 1955-1960 range. However, having been glued to artist board by a newspaper archive years ago, the back is obscured. Likely right on the edge for PSA to give this a Type 1, we have a little more wiggle room in our dating and feel confident of a c. 1955-57 date on this image which fits within our definition of a first generation (vintage 1) print. One of the most important images of mantle ever taken, this is a high grade specimen being offered here for the first time ever! NOTE: We have been informed this is a 1952 photograph taken in October during the World Series at Ebbets Field by Wingfield.
