1943 Important and dramatic photograph of a lone dead soldier on Tarawa laying right where he fell after paying the ultimate sacrifice. Because of the sensitive nature of the subject matter, dead American soldiers were rarely photographed with this being one of the only examples we have ever seen! Issued by the Associated Press and stamped on the back with a paper caption as well.
