The story of Rosemary Kennedy could be described as the first of a serious of great tragedies in the Kennedy family. Over twenty years before the assassination of JFK, she was given a labotomy in hopes to cure here low IQ (resulting from birth complications) and it had horrible side effects that left her institutionalized for the rest of her life. Because she was mentally handicapped and then in an institution after 1941, images of Rosemary are almost completely non-existant with the only examples coming from 1938 when she was presented to the King and Queen as part of her parents role as ambassadors. This is a rare portrait, alone and smiling which is the best we have ever seen. Issued by the International News and stamped on the back with a full paper caption.
