From the 1920's through her death, few musicians had the impact of Marian Anderson as she was able to cross traditional black music into the mainstream and be considered a true artist before she was even allowed to eat in public with her white fans. Here she breaks down another barrier as she meets in the White House with President John F. Kennedy. A fantastic and important image stamped on the back, Anderson is accompanied by her pianist Franz Rupp. This is her only photograph we have ever handled.
