Large 1930's portrait photograph of famous National League umpire George Barr and posing at the ballpark for photographer George Burke. A pioneer of his craft, Barr was the first to use an inside chest protector for mobility and founded the first nationwide school for umpiring as well. Combine that with his extensive service to the game (19 years) and you have a potential Hall of Famer on your hands. This is his finest image we have ever handled and from an important photographer.
