After the battle had been won on the beaches of Normandy, much remained to be done in the interior of France as the allied troops marched toward Paris. The major obstacle, much like the beaches themselves, were the massive and impenetrable hedgerows of the French countryside. Here American soldiers trudge through and hope there are no enemies hiding ahead. Taken by noted D-Day photographer Bert Brandt and stamped on the back with a full paper caption, this is a fantastic piece of WWII photography in wonderful condition.
