Jackie Robinson was more than a civil rights pioneer who happened to play baseball… he was REALLY good! His brand of baseball not only made him a sensation, but it changed the game forever. Here is one of the most famous photographs ever taken of Jackie as he steals home against the Boston Braves on August 22, 1948. Catcher Bill Salkeld is thrown off balance by the terror crashing down upon him and Jackie would slide in safe by a wide margin. Crystal clear and bold, this is the only example of this photograph off the original negative we have ever seen. Despite being a slight re-strike (1970's) it still has over forty years of age to it and it presents beautifully!
