The story of Paul Johnson is odd, he had a good show for the 1920-21 Philadelphia Athletics including a second season of 48 games and a batting average of .315, good for tops on the team among outfielders and second best overall. Johnson had to feel pretty good about himself heading into the Winter for a new contract and perhaps a raise. Instead, he would never play in the Major Leagues again. An obscure footnote to the game and a player which we have only ever seen ONE photograph of! Issued by NEA and stamped on the back, this is his only portrait known to exist and it is being offered here for the first time ever!
