The 15th New York Colored Regiment started WWI as a novelty and then ended it as heroes whose contribution remains to this day. Not only did they earn valor to a level where the entire regiment was awarded the Croix de Guerre, they are also credited with bringing Jazz music to France! This is the ONLY original image of this important regiment that we have ever heard of, stamped on the back by Underwood and Underwood and it presents well despite some wear from handling and age. One of the coolest war photographs we have ever handled.
