In September 1908, Orville Wright and his co-pilot attempted to win a military contract at Ft. Myers by demonstrating their new airplane and how it could be used in war. It went badly and it resulted in a crash that badly injured Orville Wright and killed his co-pilot marking the first airplane death in history. A year later Orville went back to the scene of the event and this time, won the contract. A rare image in great shape and issued by Underwood and Underwood and stamped on the back, this is a fantastic image that presents great with just a couple of really light creases from handling.
